Welcome, Aleisea Guzman, Art Teacher

Nativity Prep is so pleased to welcome Aleisia Guzman to the Nativity community. She started as a full time teacher at the beginning of November. Aleisia had been teaching at Keith Middle School in New Bedford for the last six years. A native of New Bedford, she spent her youth in Florida and returned to get her BA at UMass Dartmouth. She is currently pursuing her Masters in Art Education and has been featured in the New York Times for her community centered art work. You can learn more about Aleisia here.

In the art room, she has big plans for the students with a recent purchase of Wacom drawing tablets, she will be teaching the 7th and 8th graders how to do digital self portraits, and the 5th and 6th graders about character design and visual storytelling. The students are currently finishing up Native American inspired projects, learning the difference between cultural appreciation and appropriation.
