Nativity Preparatory School is an independent, tuition-free middle school for boys from low-income areas in Greater New Bedford. The school received initial start-up support from the Highland Street Foundation.

When Nativity Preparatory School opened its doors in 2000, the school relied heavily on the financial support of the Massachusetts-based Highland Street Foundation.  Since that time, Nativity has widened its donor base, replacing foundation dollars with the charity of organizations and individuals.  In lieu of state and federal funding, private donors, businesses, grant and foundation dollars, and special events in the spring and fall help to fund the school’s operating budget.  It is because of the pervasive spirit of charity and volunteerism, modeled and cultivated by the entire Nativity community, that the school continues to thrive.

Persons interested in donating to the school – financially or through the gift of products, services, and/or time and talents – should consult our Donate page.  Additional queries may be directed to Claire Carvalho, Director of Development, at (508) 994-3800 ext. 116 or by email at or Garrett Gryska, Director of Advancement, at ext. 131 or
