Dear Nativity Community,
It is with great excitement and extreme pleasure I write to share with you that following a three-month long national search, Christian J. Garris has accepted the offer of the Nativity Board of Trustees to serve as Nativity’s next Head of School. We are thrilled and look forward to the leadership he will bring.
Christian was raised in New Bedford and attended New Bedford public schools for grades 1 – 8. He then attended Tabor Academy for his secondary schooling and Amherst College for his undergraduate years. Currently, Christian is enrolled in the Harvard University Graduate School of Education’s online Masters’ Degree Program in Educational Leadership.
Christian taught for three years at the middle school level in the New Bedford Public School System. He served for four years at Tabor Academy as Associate Director of Admissions and Multicultural Outreach, elected Chair of the Faculty Affairs Advisory Committee, and member of the Senior Leadership Team. At the Thacher School in Ojai, CA, Christian currently is the Director of Multicultural Outreach, Associate Director of
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and a member of both the Senior Leadership and Student Administration Teams. He is actively involved in student recruitment, faculty
recruitment and donor cultivation efforts, and at both Tabor and Thacher has coached and served as an advisor and dormitory parent.
Christian is married with two young children, and both Christian’s and Erin’s families reside in New Bedford. Again, we are tremendously excited to have Christian as
Nativity’s next Head of School, and look forward to your helping us to welcome him and his family as new members of the Nativity Family.
